Please make an appointment to see your doctor if you believe you are pregnant. Contact details for the midwife will be provided in your maternity pack; however, if you encounter difficulty contacting the midwife, you may also do so via the surgery reception during our opening hours.
The community nursing team consists of a group of qualified nurses working in a locally based team. They provide skilled nursing services for people in the community in liason with local hospitals. The service is available seven days a week during normal hours. An out of hours service is available by phoning 01256 810683 where a recorded message will tell you how to access this service.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
Through the Child Health Surveillance programme, they are able to detect developmental and health problems early and offer advice or referral to the appropriate service. The team has expertise on behavioural problems and sleep management. Regular child health clinics, postnatal classes and a support group for women with postnatal depression are held. The health visitors can be contacted on 01329 835303.
